With the provincial election just weeks away, the future of public transit in Metro Vancouver is at risk. TransLink faces a $600 million annual funding shortfall, which could lead to drastic service reductions as early as 2026 if the next government doesn’t act.
But you have the power to help. By sending a letter to your local candidates and party leaders, you can urge them to commit to saving transit and funding the immediate delivery of our Access for Everyone expansion plan from Day 1 of the next government. With just a few clicks, you can make sure public transit remains a key issue in this election.
New polling results show public concern
A recent poll shows that 72% of Metro Vancouver residents are deeply concerned about potential transit cuts — and for good reason. Without immediate action from the next provincial government, these cuts could soon be a reality, devasting our communities and businesses. The message is clear: voters are watching and want action to save transit. View results from our recent poll here.
A united front at UBCM to save transit
Yesterday, at the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention, we held a press conference with community leaders from Boards of Trade, Chambers, student groups, social service and environmental organizations. A big THANK YOU to all those that were able to participate. Together, we launched the next stage of our campaign, highlighting the crucial role transit plays in our region’s future and calling on voters and candidates to prioritize transit this election.
