It’s an utter disgrace that an NDP government would attack seniors and change the property tax deferral option in this way. Their argument that some homeowners are wealthy and are therefore abusing the system is absurd since the government could easily apply a reasonable and flexible means test, which is clearly what they ought to do; moreover, those who contracted on the previous tax deferral levels should not be required to incur loss of equity on their homes by being forced to pay at higher levels. I’ve been an NDP supporter for decades, but if this is what the party is turning into, I will no longer vote for any NDP provincial candidates. I’m disgusted.
