HandyDART service is increasingly being outsourced to private taxis, which has led to countless instances of riders being refused service, having their wheelchairs improperly secured, or even being abandoned on the street due to taxis’ lack of door-to-door service.

Enough is enough! The Save Our HandyDART Coalition is holding a Zoom Town Hall next Wednesday, Sept 20 for riders to make our voices heard! This event is an opportunity for riders and their allies to share their stories: why is HandyDART important to you? What’s at stake if Translink continues to replace our vital service with taxis?

The Town Hall will be hosted by disability justice advocate and founder of Live Educate Transform Society (formerly Creating Accessible Neighbourhoods) Heather McCain, and will also feature researcher Eric Doherty, the author of the report “Access for Everyone? Publicly Operated HandyDART in Metro Vancouver.”

CART caption and ASL interpretation will be available.
